Each Village in Bali, has its own “Traditional Market”
Traditional market is a place where seller and buyer in the
particular village meet and doing
The transaction.
Ubud is one of the village in Bali; and the traditional
market is very closed to Best Western Premier Agung Resort Ubud, about 1 Km or
5 minutes’ drive.
Buyers who came to the market divided into two (2)
categories:
End User and Retail.
END USER:
They buy things that they need start from daily need such
as;
Rice, fruit, meat, fish, “bumbu2an” vegetable, clothes and
Balinese Hindu’s ceremony need;
Flower, hio and other equipment that made from coconut leaf
and bamboo.
End user expecting to get better price when they visit
traditional market and they will save a lot
Because of the quantity and volume that they bought is quite
big and high.
RETAIL:
Mainly they bought same things with End User, but each
Retail will buy particular stuff,
Depends on what type of stuff that they sell in the
village/community.
End User visit the market roughly twice a week, because of
the distance sometime and also the opening time of the market is usually early
morning from 5.00am– 9.00am
If they don’t need a big quantity of the stuff, the end user
prefers to pick up things they need in
Retail or Re-Seller.
Retail visit the market mostly on daily basis or every day,
because they have to fill in their stuff in their own shop or ”WARUNG”
(Balinese Traditional Shop).
The unique things in this market is; there are more communication/conversation
between the seller
And buyer, since there is NO FIX price available.
Any time the buyer interesting with particular stuff in the
market, they have to approach the seller
To ask about the price and other special things that they
want to know about the stuff that they
Interesting with…….
There is also bargaining session during the conversation
become another attractive activity inside
The Traditional Market.
In Touristic Village such as Ubud, this traditional market
visited by the tourist who stay at Ubud
Some Hotels and Villas in Ubud also inviting their “In House
Guest” to visit Traditional Market to buy the ingredient in case the guest
interesting with “COOKING LESSONS” that usually provided by particular
Hotels and Villas.
Guest will experience how local Balinese doing their trade
and at the other side they also
Able to get the freshest stuff that they need.
